Polite Dance Song
I have always thought there was something a little... odd about this song. Now I know there is.

Sip A Dip
Janet and Danielle Wortman, my Sunday School teacher's children. They're clearly budding, young lyricists. Also, they have a pretty cool dad (my Sunday School teacher) who added some cool music and put it all to video. Enjoy.

Ben Folds the Musicial
Oh. My. Gosh. This is EPIC. What the heck is this? The Secret Life of Morgan Davis is aces. Especially the pimp.
I don't know what this implies about humanity, but it must imply something. Also, who is that guy? I need him for my Broadway production of The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner.

Led Zepp: Welcome to the 21st Century
I meant to post this a bit ago, but I forgot. Anyway, this is what I think Led Zeppelin's album art for Led Zeppelin I might have looked like if it came out this century. This was a fun project.
You can tell me if you think it sucks. It's way better in the jewel case. The inside is a b/w photo of a zeppelin that's been color formatted purple. Baller.
Also, I guess this is the back cover:
Uh, yea.

Love the 90s
So, Cranberries sent me on a nostalgia trip. Even though I don't remember hearing this song, I've recently become acquainted with it. British rock's equivalent to Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit":
You know I'm such a fool for you.
Eegads. I love the Cranberries. Linger came on while I was driving this morning. Laura and I sang it together. :)

J'adore la Flying Cupcake
I always forget that in a few months, I won't have really neat places like these to visit anymore. I'll have to find quirks in my new place of residence to love as nearly as I love these!

Creepy
This is a really creepy commercial. Special thanks to Derek for putting forth the effort I was too lazy to muster in order to find this unfortunate advertisement.

The "Making Of" Winter Song
Beautiful, mesmerizing song.
My favorite lyric?
I still believe in summer days.
The seasons always change
and life will find a way.
I'll be your harvester of light
and send it out tonight
so we can start again.
I don't think that lyric actually gets sung in this "making of" video, so please check out the song for the full version.
I also really like the way this song plays with the idea that things can continue to have life even when hope seems lost.
Sara B., you've done it again.

If You Seek Amy
Okay, this is NOT clever. It sounds dumb and narcissistic. Gah. I can't stand Britney Spears. Gag me. And for anymore who thinks Womanizer is "feminist", just take a look at this little wonder. Feminist my foot.
Simple Civics
Yesterday, in my International Communication Systems class, I was appalled to find that my classmates were stumped by a simple question about the executive branch of their own country. The question posed was, "What is the highest diplomatic office in the United States?" Crickets, literally. Nobody even took a stab at it. "Are you kidding me!?," I thought. Of course I answered. I felt OBLIGATED. "Secretary of State!" I thought we learned this in 4th grade. What's going on? Was everyone zoned-out or did they really not know? At any rate, the professor was actually looking for the name of the person who holds that office currently. "Surely, now that they have heard the title, they can recall the name," I thought. Silence and blank stares once again. So, again, I answered. "Condoleeza Rice," I said in a reluctant voice.
I know my classmates don't always like to hear from me. I get dirty looks from them when I open my mouth. (I'm that annoying girl who has something to say about everything.) Honestly, though, if they can't even answer a simple civics trivia question, I don't particularly want to hear from them either. It isn't that I don't think these are intelligent people. They are. There is no doubt in my mind that these students can take what they're given and run with it, no matter what it is. I just find it disheartening that they weren't taught these things in school. Furthermore, it's hard to grasp that a room full of Journalism students have never had the curiosity to seek out such information for themselves. Perhaps I expect too much from my peers. Perhaps it is wrong to think that people who have chosen this profession would feel compelled to seek information for themselves rather than reading or looking into it as a result of an assignment. Is it then also too much to ask that journalists turn things on their heads rather than taking information at face value?
Granted, Butler is not known for its Journalism program per say, but these are still the future media practitioners of City X. Journalists, in my understanding, are obligated to be public servants. How can you report accurately without the basics? Beyond that, this university is somewhat difficult to get into and costs its students a whopping $40,000 a year to attend. Are we getting anything out of this astronomically priced education when we can't gather and analyze information independently and aside from our studies? Are we becoming good citizens of this country?

Teach For America...
gave me a final interview! WOO! I have skipped the phone interview and advanced directly to the "final interview stage". Does that sound like pinball or a game show to anyone else? I'm not really concerned about that. I'm just really excited to be one step closer!

Onch Movement, or I love pink Sharpies too.
**Ammendment**
Apparently, Onch Movement is a jewelry company AND it's kind of popular/famous. Oops. This is still a really ridonculous video. Proceed.
This guy (yes, guy) got himself kicked off of Paris Hilton's My New BFF. Apparently, Paris is a biotch and Onch is now his own movement. Please watch this. *hearts*
Okay, so now that you're dumber for having seen that, I would like to point out the heinous guns n' hearts tshirt AND that Onch and I have the same haircut. Who is this dude!?

The Random Photo Hour
Ta-da! Random picture. Special thanks and consideration to Peggy Zizzo and Christine Johnson-- Peggy for taking the photo and CJ for having a plate of doorknobs.
Probably the coolest pumpkin carving ever. Go Dawgs! (Again, thank Peggy for the cool picture.)
More Bulldog pride with the student fan of the year, Jenna Hillman. I think this was taken for Sporting News Magazine. Jenna, in true Tri Delta fashion, was the only woman to make the spread! Those TDs. Always breaking stereotypes. I love this picture!
Tri Delta FTW
I'm an ape.
I hope this makes you laugh because I think it's one of the most ridiculous things ever. Thank God for Veggie Tales.
Salad Dressing
I don't know how you feel about your salad dressings, but I have some definite opinions about mine. Take fat-free ranch for instance. This is probably the most disgusting salad dressing on the face of the planet. I work at a restaurant and the way we delineate between regular ranch and the fat-free variety is this: the normal-looking one is regular and the one that looks like gel? That's fat-free. Gross. Also, it doesn't even taste like normal ranch dressing. It's sweeter in a really disgusting way. Furthermore, when you try to wash the stuff off of plates and so forth, you realize it's not really water-soluble. People want to put that stuff in their bodies!? Bad taste. Bad texture. No thank you. Icky.
So, I tried to find out when this disgusting dieter's staple first came on the market by utilizing Wikipedia's vast array of information. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to have anything on fat-free ranch in particular. They did however have this. I laughed out loud at the marking for "Kosher varieties" mostly because, of all those salad dressings, there are TWO kosher kinds. Only two.
In conclusion, fat-free ranch is one of the more deplorable dressings available AND Wishbone is antisemitic.

The Office of the President
Congratulations are in order, President-Elect Obama. You have succeeded in becoming this country's first African-American President. Truly, the work of one of one of my idols, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., was not in vain. An African American has achieved the highest honor afforded any citizen of this great country.
I only hope that your economic policy does not cripple us beyond capacity and that your foolish foreign affairs plan somehow works in our favor.
There is a silver lining to every dark cloud. I couldn't be happier for the African American citizens throughout this country who are no doubt celebrating the ascension of their own race to this country's, indeed this world's, highest office. This is truly an historic event.

Bloggerific
I am building this blog primarily as a place for friends to see my mostly-quirky internet findings. I find that linking people over AIM is tedious when I could just, say, publish it to my blog and have my pals check it out there (er, here?). I'm currently working on a banner for this sucker, but I've no clue what dimensions I'm working with here. You guys are gonna love it (I hope)! it could, however, end up as scrap ideas in my ever-increasing pile of graphic design disasters. (If you take a look at my bedroom floor, I think you'll know what I'm talking about.)
Cheers, cheers. Now get out and vote (considering election day is tomorrow!).

Facebook is for squares...
but I decided to rejoin today anyway.
After reading Groundswell, I've decided that Facebook can be a really useful tool. My initial reasons for leaving Facebook revolved around this Rolling Stone article and many lingering feelings I had been having about my personal usage of the social networking service. I've come around, however, and am plugged back into the sometimes-creepy, always-interesting world of Facebook-- or, my beloved term for it, Facestalk.
